The Wharf
Willemstad – What we know today as Kleine Werf will soon undergo a significant transformation. As included in the Curaçao Ports Authority Master Plan for this area, JCC Development N.V. (JCC) will build a complex of modern and luxurious apartments here: ‘The Wharf’. The construction of
these apartments will take place in the first phase of the project.
JCC is a partnership between three companies and a pension fund with a shared vision to develop this high-quality apartment complex in downtown Willemstad. It concerns the architectural firm Architect Den Heijer, real estate company Heren2, engineering firm C + CC Engineers, and Algemeen
Pensioenfonds van Curaçao (APC). Another partner is Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA), which made the long leasehold land available.
‘The Wharf’ will consist of 35 luxury apartments, a variety of restaurants, and extensive parking facilities. The complex is being developed on a unique location: the “Kleine Werf”. This location is strategically located on an extension of the Handelskade – the most famous location of Curaçao – and behind Scharloo and Fleur de Marie, which have been developing into a vibrant part of the historic city center in recent years.
Construction itself will start in the fourth quarter of 2020, but preparatory work has already started. Two warehouses were recently demolished and pile-driving work will initiate this week. During this phase piles of approximately 65-100 feet will be driven into the ground. This phase has a duration of 6 to 8 weeks and can cause noise nuisance. JCC will do its utmost to keep this phase as short as possible and apologizes in advance for the noise nuisance caused as a result of this last preparatory phase.
